The Pride of Workmanship Awards is a brainchild of our own Rotary District 9685 instigated in 1975.  Its aim was to encourage more pride by Australians in their vocations.  Its theme is “Do it once. Do it well. Build a better Australia”.  It had its own dedicated presentation ceremony where recipients were presented with the award.  The Pride of Workmanship Awards strengthened the connection between Rotary clubs and local business communities.  Recipients are grateful for the recognition awarded to them and acknowledgement of their community involvement.
In 2021, The Rotary Lane Cove found 2 very worth recipients for this award.
Joyce Aimond is the business owner and operator of Baker’s Delight Lane Cove.  The business has been in operation in Lane Cove for the last 25 years having opened in 1995. This bakery not only provides an essential service but is part of the heart of the local community. Baker’s Delight enthusiastically support local school events, school trophies, sausage sizzles, the annual easter Hat Parade.  Their support also extends to the LC Youth Orchestra, St Vincent De Paul, Matthew Talbot,  Redfern Catholic Church Aboriginal community, Lane Cove Community Aid, Starlight Foundation, Breast Cancer Network Australia and not forgetting the annual Lane Cove Rotary Fair. Each night, all excess bread is collected by St Vincent De Paul volunteers to feed the homeless at the Mathew Talbot shelter
Scott Luff Facility Manager at Lane Cove Aquatic Centre and Greenwich Baths.  Scott has been in his role for over 10 years and displays outstanding dedication, commitment, and exemplary customer service in his role.  Scott Luff and his boss Lane Cove Rotarian Todd Hardy has ensured that Lane Cove Aquatic Centre is a good supporter of Rotary Lane Cove and is actively involved in the community work that the Club does.  We thank them for allowing us to use Lane Cove Aquatic Centre for selling our Raffles tickets in 2020 which was our only major fundraiser in a year of unexpected challenges.
