It is with much sadness that we were advised of the death, on 20th September, of PDG Barrie Titcume.

Although a PDG in the Tamworth area, Barrie recently lived for a number of years on the Central Coast and attended functions in our district.

Barrie joined the Rotary Club Of Tamworth in 1955 aged 21.  He was president of his Club in 1965-66 and for his first 50 years of membership had 100% attendance.  Barrie applied to be District Governor but was ruled ineligible because he was unmarried.  He finally became Governor of District 265 in 1971-72 aged 37 and was at the time one of the youngest Governors ever nominated in Australia.

Barrie was a Paul Harris Fellow, a Rotary Foundation Benefactor and a recipient of the Rotary Foundation Citation for Meritorious Service in 1980.  He was a Group Study Exchange team leader, a delegate to the Council on Legislation and served on various RI Committees and Consulting groups.

Barrie's funeral was held in Tamworth last Friday, 25 September.
