All having been comfortably seated, obediently following Sergeant Adrienne's authoritative tolling of the bell, President Tom bad us stand. Then after greeting us he told us to sit. OK.

Directors Reports:

John Palmer:  Reports that the conference was the best ever,  Some of the highlights were astounding. Peter Fitzsimons was articulate and amazingly recounted names and places from his three war novels. Dr Beltingurea Roturisu was interesting, built a hospital in the Congo as well as generators to run them, as well as schools. RCLC got great accolades from Gov Ian, re our outstanding fund raising for Shelter Boxes, on the previous Tuesday, leading to a standing ovation. PP Martin Silink also got accolades. Polio is in only three countries in the world now. Project is close to fruition. The Hyatt was an outstanding venue, being central to the wineries and golf.

PP Gina Growden will host the conference next year in Canberra. The theme for next year is "Be a gift for the world".

John recommends that we all go and have a thoroughly good time.

Shelter Box:  We are close to ten shelter boxes. Donation sheet available tonight.  John got another 1,000 from his friend's accountant.

Soap Aid:  Collect hotel soaps and hand them in. Melted down and given to overseas needy. The Marriott hotel at the Quay is a central collection point. As is Rtn Tania, who is also collecting soap for charity via another organisation. This surprisingly smooth operation can result in the holds bulging with so much soap that you couldn't slip in another cake.

John also accepted the rose for the passing of Neville Johnson.

Dick Dawes:  Putting a proposal tonight. The International Committee requested a transfer of funds that was raised last week in the raffle, being $862 to be used to offset the cartage cost of iron to Vanuatu. Tanna was badly hit, including the hospital that our club renovated. Harry suggested that the donation was not tax deductible because the chief overlord of the big house would send down squadrons of suits to prise back the dollars from the displaced homeless to return them to a struggling general revenue.

Chris: the principle here is that someone procured building materials at their own cost and our money will help with the transport of that.

Harry Clarsen re club assembly:  Report that club proposes the following re foundation.

1)   Donation of $4200 for TRF

2).  Donation of $2000 for PP.

3).  Make donations for Paul Harris Fellowships and Society Memberships

4). Aim at each member making a donation of $100 for the year to give us a 100% Centurion list.

5)  Administer a Foundation Matching Grant of $4000 for the school in Kathmandu

6). Administering a District Grant of $4200 NTT project in Indonesia.

7)  Possibly donate $1000 towards further Constitutional Democracy Workshops in Myanmar this year.

Pres Tom:  61 million WATW steps already.  LCRC struggling compared to previous years so far.  LC Council as supportive as last year.

Sergeant Adrienne's Session:

Lindsay for dancing in the Brindabella outfit. Tania for dobbing him in. Adrienne's husband for dinging the car in the drive.

Boasts:

John Donald travelled all around the states. Finished up at Dream Suites in Hollywood where Charlie Chaplin stayed.

John Cronly:  Waited for a door handle for his stacked Beemer for six weeks. Issued a warning to all buyers of fancy cars to either make sure that they don't prang them or buy plenty of spare parts in case they do.

JP:  Home alone now so don't come knockin' for a while.

Dick Dawes:  Son has been appointed senior lawyer in hearings on child abuse. Will probably pick up a boarder from this appointment of a blue mountains resident. Sounds confident of scoring some rent. All I can say is good luck.

Pres Tom announced Club assembly:

The constitution has Changed our locality definition successfully to Lane Cove and surrounding area.

Bob Cartwright on Constitution and By-Laws:  Needs to mirror RI's constitution. So needed updated including description of method of Club's  location. We also need to comply with the laws of NSW. Much shorter than previous by-laws to give club more latitude in method of operation.  The club agreed unanimously to accept the new constitution and by-laws.  Tania to record the official minutes of the club assembly for distribution to members.

We had presentations from all directors present. The minutes of the reports will follow.

Public Relations:  Difficulty meeting deadlines re shelter boxes; article to go into next month' Village Observer.

Lindsay: Karen Paul ordained as a minister 2 weeks ago. Asking club to put details on her church website as a link.  Invited LCRC members to join any of her walking groups.

John Donald doing the Red Shield appeal again this year (as President of the LC Committee.)

Ron Tweedie:  Public speaking competition in LC Council Chambers on Wed 3 June.  Possible applicants from Chatswood HS.

Tania Mace:  Shelter Boxes all under control; Small Gr NTT $12000 to Chris Curtis;  Some Member Fees still unpaid

Pres Tom:  Big clap for Tania

Other Business:

Dick Dawes:  Chris has organised 24 May 10 June trip. From Dick's previous experience in organising similar things, he knows it represents lots of work.  It has been an outstanding achievement in also generating such interest from so many Rotary Clubs around the state and also NZ.

Dick:  Intl night went off well.  Want to recognise Lindsay's efforts on the public address system.  These were outstanding, as were those of the urbane Chris Curtis as MC.

Attendance Tonight: 22.  Raffle was won by Adrienne.
