The meeting was opened by President Tom.

Announcements

It was good to see PP Bob attend two meetings in a row without the need for a third knee operation. Good thing he only has two.  Bob and PP John Palmer have completed the updated version of the Club Constitution and By-Laws.

Jenny May recently attended the Pres Elect training meeting. Will call a meeting of the board elect in due course.

PP Roger Wescombe:  Please put Walk Around the World steps on the website. The average has zoomed to 500 per team. Mind you, this was for only two members. A plea to all to start and or enter a team.

PP John Palmer:  The annual District Conference is on for next weekend. Pop up for a day if available - or the whole weekend. The conference is the equivalent of a window to the Rotary Soul. It is fully inspiring to see what type of projects each club delivers. The totality of this contribution has to be seen to be believed.

PP Dick Dawes:  Intl night is next Tuesday on the 17th.  Lindsay has arranged a dancer extraordinaire. Also congratulations and our gratitude to Lindsay for all the work he puts in to the catering arrangements.

Tania:  Please remember to confirm attendance next Tuesday night even if registered on Dick's list.

Pres Tom:  The affirmed boundaries of this club have been re-defined to "Lane Cove" and surrounding areas" by head office. We are all greatly relieved to know that we have been coming to the right place all these years!

Pres Tom:  Beware the speed trap when you leave here to go home.  [I guess Tom only has to touch the accelerator of The Monster and he's in the frame].

Sergeants Session

Adrienne: Forgot the birthday list last week perhaps so just repeated the fines anyway. Such injustice! Dick Dawes in disbelief. JP attempted to purloin the scribe's whole wallet. Bob Cartwright for keeping a low profile. Jenny for conscientiousness leading her to going all the way. Alicia for false pretences while doing her nails while pet minding.

X Fines:  People in WATW photo shoot should pay. Jenny, Tom, Alicia, John and others.  John Cronly ... Boasted that he didn't have a boast.

Tania:  Lindsay did a presentation on membership to the Pres Elect's meeting. A firebrand effort. Watch out when he comes here!

Lane Cove Council had a feast so Adrienne attended and gave a prize to local celebrities. Last Monday of this month is good neighbour day (just in case they have died.)

Speaker

James Shevlin introduced PP Chris Curtis whose very entertaining talk entitled "My Life" appears below.   Chris has been a member of Lane Cove Rotary for 28 years.

Questions

Pres Tom. Motorbike connection?  Answer:  Got a motor bike at 50. Rode to Nepal. Joined a rotary bikies group. There are many Rotary grips established for mere enjoyment.

Pres Tom:  Indonesia interest origin? When returned from Germany and became curious about and interested in Asia as a result of flying over it. Plus Indonesia is our neighbour. Therefore important to learn the language of our nearest neighbour.

Adrienne:  Best 5 attributes of your marriage?  Answer:  Affection, trust, passion, plus so much else. Sort of mental telepathy to accommodate each other's needs. June -who deserves the medal?

Roger ... Best activities in Rotary?  Answer:  Many - all important and exciting. Being a president, so making a difference is the over riding ethos of satisfaction. Rotary is a heritage of many people. Dick's adventures in New Guinea and Nepal were exciting and interesting. The conferences are fun, rewarding and educational.

PP John Palmer-vote of thanks.  Thanks for contributing an extra 5 billion people in the world. Thanks for the travel stories.

Attendance report - Tania:  17 Rotarians and 10.  Reminder from Pres Tom:  Next week is International night and it is a Partner's Night.
