Jan Pretorius in Tasmania came across a September 1961 edition of the Rotary Club of Lane Cove bulletin. Here is an excerpt:

“An amusing description of Rotary by a youngster came to my notice. This youngster said “People who

belong to Rotary are called Rotarians. They are allmen. My Dad is a Rotarian. Rotary is sometimes

called a movement. It moves because it is put on awheel and goes around".

"If you are a good Rotarian you have to have abutton as a sign and people come up to you on the

street and say “Which Club?” and shake hands or hit you on the back if they are Americans. Mum is not a

Rotarian. The Rotarians have Ladies’ Nights once a year where women can go and try to enjoy

themselves. Mum knits a lot and has made us some lovely pullovers. Dad doesn’t knit. He just comes

home from his Rotary meeting all bucked up and ever so happy and always tells us what he

said. Mum just smiles and goes on knitting.” Made me laugh.  Not sure if you have it in archives!

Regards, DG Ian.
