Join us for this year's first social evening at The Kirribilli Club, Lavender Bay (aka Milsons Point). Overlooking spectacular Lavender Bay and the City.

Robyn has reserved a large table in the spacious venue which caters for everyone's taste from a large and varied menu and we are assured to

be having a wonderful time. All attendees place their their own food and beverage orders and pay for them individually. 

There is adequate street parking as well as at their underground parking station which has a reduced charge if you are a member.

Claire will give us an overview of the Aged Care Landscape and 'My Aged Care' established by the Australian Government.

She will explain the change happening across the sector including cost and fees and what to look for and expect in Retirement Living.

Kelly Markey is a highly accomplished professional with over 30 years of experience in the health industry. She has worked all over the world for major world gorillas and has gained extensive knowledge and expertise by travelling to over 200 cities. Expertly equipped from her richly lived experience, she is an accomplished  writer.

She is a global philanthropist, one of her long-term partnership is with Lifeline: Zululand. Her book “Life of Jayandra” won an award for the best suicide campaign and Top Book Award for 2024. Kelly is a passionate advocate for social justice and equality. She works tirelessly to raise awareness about racism and discrimination.

Melody's discusses her journey through mourning, following her father's yearlong battle with a terminal illness.

She also gives insight into grief amidst separation from family and loved ones.

"A look back at rapidly changing China”,- by Rotarian Lucy Hobgood Brown.

In 1983, Lucy Hobgood-Brown was invited by the Chinese government to join a hand-picked Western team of hoteliers to open the country’s first international business class hotel. Her adventures included navigating the perceptions of public relations vs propaganda, introducing Halloween and the first Western feature film to China (“Out of Africa”) and wrangling the hundreds of volunteers who stepped up to help launch the UN’s 4^th World Conference on Women.

Lucy is a member of the Rotary E-Club of Greater Sydney and has lived and worked in 9 countries.

Dr Marthe Kondemo is visiting Australia for the first time, thanks to a Royce and Jean Abbey vocational scholarship, the Rotary E-Club of Greater Sydney and HandUp Congo. The third African and first Congolese to receive this scholarship, ‘Rev Dr Marthe’ is a 44-year-old academic and pastor. The mum of five lives in Mbandaka, Equateur Province, DRC.

Her NSW program is giving her the opportunity to learn about women’s health and livelihood initiatives that may be replicable in the Congo. Marthe Kondemo will share with us how partnerships are facilitating better ways to achieve community goals in the Democratic Republic of Congo. She will share stories about economics and agriculture, and ways women's hard work and ingenuity are creating stable income sources with money to send their children to school and keep their families healthy. The journey on which Congolese women have embarked in collaboration with Rotary and other project partners is leading to far greater transformations than they first dreamed.
