Our DG Christine Owen's official visit to Lane Cove Rotary is an important occasion. I would ask members to make as pecial effort to attend to show support to the club and to the District Governor. Christine does not need to meet with the Board prior to the meeting but would like a 2 minute report from board members on their specific tasks. Our speaker will be District Governor Christine who will share her vision for the remainder of the Rotary year. I shall be in contact with various board members prior to the meeting to ensure we are prepared. As per usual, catering at the Diddy is by LOSSO Bistro. You order and pay for individually. Looking forward to seeing you there. Kind regards, Silvio Gmur, Lane Cove Rotary President 2023-24

Sep 19, 2023 6:30 PM - 8:15 PM
Is Hydrogen the Answer to Australia's Future as a Renewable Superpower". To ensure that the climate is stable and predictable the world needs to act now to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Australia, as a country, is neither causing nor exacerbating the problem but we must do all that is reasonably and economically possible to lead in emissions reduction and hopefully create jobs and growth in the process. This talk will discuss the problem and explore how Hydrogen could play a role in Australia’s Future Energy Vision. Australia is a lucky country and we can leverage our special position in the push to Net Zero by 2050. The talk will clarify the Hydrogen puzzle, describe the colours of hydrogen, and discuss what NSW and other states are doing with Renewable Energy Zones and incentives. Adjunct Professor Michael Dureau AM has a proven track record as a successful CEO and Chairman of Private, Public and Not-for-Profit Organisations. He was the Chairman of Engineers Australia’s National Committee on Fuels and Energy, Vice President Finance (Treasurer) and Chairman of the Chemical College Board. He is passionate about renewable clean energy and is a director of BioTek Fuels Ltd. And a member of the NSW Decarbonisation Expert Panel. He is Chairman of Coal Innovation NSW and was the Deputy Chairman of the ACT Solar/Wind Auction Panel. He is an Honorary Fellow of Engineers Australia (EA) and has been listed several times as one of Australia’s Top 100 Most Influential Engineers. Catering at the Diddy is by LUSSO Bistro. Oct 03, 2023 6:30 PM - 8:15 PM
Only 5 more days to our club's main annual fund-raising event "The Lane Cove Rotary Fair"! A great deal of work has been undertaken by many to ensure that the event will be a great success again after an interlude of 2 years without The Fair Event Chair Lalitha Warren and the entire Lane Cove Fair Committee have worked tirelessly to organize every aspect of this year's event. This is an opportunity to check on all aspects on how it is all coming together. It also requires the involvement of every member of the club on the day to ensure that the event succeeds. Many volunteers are required for ensuring the smooth stall holder’s “Bump-In”, setting up of the Rotary Marquees and the BBQ and manning of it, selling of 'Mega Raffle" tickets and generally assist with the smooth running of the event.
Catering at the Diddy is by LUSSO Bistro. You order and pay individually. - On arrival proceed to the Bistro's ordering counter. They have a large selection of small and large dishes including tasty Pizza!

In March 2020 Jenny journeyed to the Antarctic Peninsula from Ushuaia at the tip of South America via the Falkland Islands (Islas Malvinas) and South Georgia on the "World Explorer" ship with Quark Expeditions. There were multiple zodiac adventures both ashore and cruising near land. The wildlife was far more abundant than imagined and this talk, focussing mainly on the wildlife, will be accompanied by photos and videos of the trip. The ship only had 140 passengers and many new friendships were made, although the trip was cut short by one day as borders were starting to close because of the outbreak of Covid. No Covid on the "World Explorer" though. Main Meal: Vegetarian Meal: Please note that the Hotel Urban requires confirmation of numbers by midday, day prior. Confirmed numbers are being charge for to the club. |
