James Stevenson is an experienced Landscaper, Educator and Consultant. He is also an experienced event speaker and has appeared in magazine and TV shoots on gardening and lawn maintenance. For over 20 years he has been providing gardening & lawn maintenance, landscaping and consultation and has a team of up 4 staff. James has a Horticulture certificate, Diploma of Horticulture and a Teaching Certificate Level 4 and has been a teacher at Macquarie Community College for 20 years providing 8-week short courses on Gardening and Landscaping as well as workshop day courses on ‘Do it yourself Paving’. - James is also the Vice President of the Eastwood Evening Garden Club as well as a radio presenter on Northside Radio (Chatswood) and 2RRR Radio (Henley Point/Gladesville. Interplast representatives have an incredible story to tell. Having been on an Interplast surgical or development activity as a surgeon, anaesthetist, nurse or Rotarian observer, they can speak from first-hand experience of the life-changing work carried out by Interplast volunteers. Integrally involved in the establishment of Interplast in 1983 with the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons, Interplast is supported by Rotarians in clubs and districts throughout Australia and New Zealand. Giving Deaf Children a Voice Nicola Lloyd will be presenting on the work of The Shepherd Centre, a specialist early intervention centre working with children and young people with hearing loss across NSW, ACT and TAS. The Shepherd Centre vision is to enable children who are deaf and hearing-impaired to develop spoken language so they may fully participate in the world, and in doing so, reach their full potential. Their world-leading early intervention services encompass the needs of infants, toddlers, school-age children and teenagers. Programs include specialist child and family counselling, parent education programs, speech pathology, paediatric audiology, pre-school services, children’s play, music and art groups, school-readiness programs and mentoring. We are joined by members of the Rotary Clubs of Northbridge, Crows Nest, North Sydney and Mosman, who are all interested in the subject of Road Safety Initiative. Professor Jim M Elliott is the Academic Director at the Kolling Institute in St Leonards. He has a fascinating story to tell about road trauma and educating the media about road safety issues including facts about impairment and speed. In addition, they are looking at distinguishing between crashes and accident and how youth can play an important role in influencing safe choices amongst their peers. Time: 6.00pm for 6.30pm sit down. Cost: $32 per person includes one course meal plus coffee/tea. About our Speaker Henry Freiberg: Henry is a local beekeeper with apiary locations in Lane Cove, Huntley's Cove, Neutral Bay, Cremorne and Mosman. He collects bee swarms in the spring, makes custom bee hives in the winter and removes bees from homes year-round. He is contracted with NSW Land Services for management of feral bees, and has assisted with the NSW Department of Primary Industries response to the recent and ongoing Varroa Mite infestation that started in Newcastle. Henry will share stories of beekeeping in Sydney for our education and entertainment. He will even bring great honey for sale if you are interested. Main Meal: Grilled Salmon with Mash Potatoes, Asparagus, Dutch Carrots, Truss Tomato and Romero. Vegetarian Meal: Vegetable Harvest Curry with Basmati Rice, Pappadam and Mint Yogurt (V) Please note that the Hotel Urban requires confirmation of numbers by midday, day prior.
