Melanie Lewis is a dedicated Rotarian, having started out as Youth Chair for the Rotary Club of Beecroft. In May 2020 she became a charter member of the Rotary Social Impact Network - an innovative new model designed for time poor, early and mid-career high achieving Rotarians, with many members active in District roles both here and overseas. The club aims to create and measure individual and collective impact in 3 dimensions: youth, indigenous, and environment. Melanie has a background in marine ecology, and is now completing a PhD exploring innovation, strategy and social networks to accelerate action for climate change. She has worked at fun places like Pro Dive, Oceanworld Manly, Taronga Zoo and The Fish Ecology Lab, making good use of her mantra of “always think like a fish, no matter how weird it gets”. Passionate about redesigning a more sustainable and just world, Melanie is a Stanford University Innovation Fellow motivated to teach the Design Thinking mindset as an approach to solving the world’s biggest problems. She is the Expert-in-Residence at Macquarie University Incubator where she creates entrepreneurship curriculum for startups, undergrads, postgrads and higher degree research students. Melanie is married to a serial entrepreneur, Mark, with whom she shares two crazy young kids and a dopey Border Collie. Zac Revere is the President a new styled action-oriented environmental focus Rotary Club based in Gold Coast Australia to preserve the iconic Koala. In the wild, koalas serve as ambassadors for the many other species that inhabit the Australian bush. Protecting bushland areas in an effort to save koala populations also protects the habitat of a wide range of animal and plant species such as possums, gliders, wombats, quolls, birds, and reptiles. Now is the time for us to have a cause-based Rotary Club to save the loved Koala. This new styled club will connect monthly with all members on Zoom and offer volunteer opportunities to save the Koala.
